In Sharm el-Sheikh, a popular tourist destination in Egypt between the Sinai Peninsula and the Red Sea, a social phenomenon occurs when young Egyptian men meet up with much older Russian women for sexual encounters.

Unable to leave their parents’ homes or start families of their own, the young men save up what they can and head to the Sinai to escape the harsh reality of the Egyptian economy.

In his series titled Egyptian Honeymoon, New York City-based photographer Mohamed Sadek documents this phenomenon, exploring the relationship of social norm and sexual desire through the vivid colors and scenes surrounding Sharm el-Sheikh.
